How much does pest control cost?

What goes into the price, what every visit includes, and how to get an exact number for your home.

Pest control pricing comes down to four things: the pest you have, the size of your property, how severe the problem is, and whether you choose a one-time treatment or a recurring plan. Because those vary so much from home to home, Lake Cook Pest Control gives a free, no-obligation estimate before any work — call or text (847) 224-3169 and in most cases we can quote you on the spot.

What determines the price

01

The pest you have

A one-time ant or spider treatment is a very different job from rodent exclusion, a wasp nest in a soffit, or a cockroach infestation that needs follow-up visits. The pest sets the products, the equipment, and the number of visits.

02

The size and layout of your property

Square footage, the length of the foundation we treat, the number of stories, and how accessible crawl spaces, attics, and utility areas are all affect the time a treatment takes.

03

How severe the problem is

A problem caught early usually resolves in a single visit. An established infestation — or one with an ongoing source, like a rodent entry point — takes more work and sometimes structural sealing.

04

One-time visit vs. a recurring plan

A single treatment is priced as one job. Recurring plans spread visits across the year at a lower per-visit rate and include free re-service between visits if pests come back.

One-time treatment vs. a recurring plan

A one-time treatment is the right call when you have a specific, contained problem — a wasp nest, a seasonal invasion of boxelder bugs, or ants in the kitchen. You pay once for that visit.

A recurring plan (monthly, quarterly, tri-annual, or semi-annual) costs less per visit and is designed to keep pests from establishing in the first place. Quarterly is the most common choice here, because most of the products we use keep working for up to 90 days. Every recurring plan includes free re-service between scheduled visits — if something shows up in between, we come back at no additional charge.

What every visit includes

  • A full interior and exterior inspection by a state-licensed technician
  • Identification of the pest and the source, not just the symptom
  • Treatment with eco-conscious, people- and pet-safe products
  • Straightforward findings and recommendations after the visit
  • Free re-service between visits on any recurring plan
  • No long-term contract — cancel or change your plan at any time

Is pest control worth the money?

It depends on what you are dealing with. A couple of ants on a windowsill usually is not worth a service call — store-bought products handle it. Professional treatment earns its cost when the problem keeps returning, when it involves risk (stinging insects, rodents contaminating food or gnawing wiring), or when the source is somewhere you cannot see or reach.

The clearest example is rodents. Sealing entry points properly is more expensive than a box of traps, but it is the part that actually ends the problem — and it is far cheaper than repairing chewed wiring, insulation, or ductwork. Our rodent exclusion work is backed by a one-year guarantee for that reason.

Frequently asked questions about cost

It depends on the pest, the size of your home, the severity of the problem, and whether you choose a one-time treatment or a recurring plan. Because those factors vary so much house to house, we give a free, no-obligation estimate up front — call or text (847) 224-3169 and in most cases we can quote you over the phone.

Per visit, plans with more frequent visits usually cost less each time, but the annual total is higher. Quarterly service is the most common choice for homes in our area because most treatments keep working for up to 90 days. We will recommend the least expensive schedule that actually solves your problem.

No. Estimates are free and carry no obligation. We would rather tell you honestly whether you need service than sell you a plan you do not need.

Never. We do not lock customers into long-term contracts. You can pause, change, or cancel a recurring plan at any time — we would rather earn your business each visit.

For a few visible ants or a single spider, store-bought products are often enough. Professional service is worth it when the problem keeps coming back, when it involves rodents or stinging insects that carry real risk, or when the source is hidden — because treating the source is what stops the cycle. Licensed technicians also have access to products and application methods that are not sold retail.

Generally no. Most policies treat pest control and pest damage as preventable maintenance rather than sudden accidental damage. Routine prevention is usually far cheaper than repairing rodent or carpenter-ant damage later.
